Connie Kennedy, aka Mizz Klown & Nurse Stitches, first became interested in clowning when she met Ed Birchell “Ho-Ho” of Oklahoma City back in 1982. The memories of watching this statewide celebrity took her back to her own childhood. It was a pivotal moment in her life that would lead her to discover this so-called passion called ‘clowning.’
Ten years later, after attending a two-week course on clowning offered at Central Presbyterian Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma, her journey began. She joined several local clown alleys in Oklahoma City and learned as much as she possibly could. Then, in 1999, she was introduced to Pricilla Mooseburger, aka Tricia Manuel, Glen “Frosty” Little – RBB&B Master Clown, Dave Mitchell, Cheri Venturi and Rex Nolen. Her life, as they say, has never been the same. The technical skills that she learned through each of them took her to a new, higher level and it also taught her that as long as you are coachable - you can be teachable – and the sky’s the limit!
Some of her best experiences have been at Mooseburger Camp in Minnesota from 2000 to 2010 – where she has met and studied with Karen Bell, Mark Renfro, Steve Smith, Greg & Karen DeSanto, Robin Eurich, and Joe Barney – just to name a few!
She’s appeared in the Guthrie OK Jazz Banjo Festival 2002 Documentary entitled “Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart” and has attended the Great Clown Adventure at Circus Circus Casino in Las Vegas Nevada in 2003 and 2005. She’s competed in the Clowns of America International Conventions for years 2002 and 2003 and placed top 10 in all competition categories. She’s also a member of the World Clown Association and the Bricktown Clown Alley #365 of Oklahoma City. And the rest, as you might say, is clown history!
